WE UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT:

In the school:

1. Our child will study in classes with adults, students aged 18 and over.
2. The curriculum in Atlas Language School’s adult centre is not designed for under-18 students, but for adult students, which is reflected in the topics covered in class.
3. Our child is expected to participate and interact with adult students in class.
Our child can be photographed for project work/activities/group photographs. These photos may be used on our managed social media pages, website and marketing materials. We specifically authorise the school to use these photographs.

Free time

5. Our child will travel between the school and the homestay/chosen accommodation unsupervised.
6. Our child will not be supervised during their free time, e.g. between the end of their lessons at the school and returning to their accommodation.
7. We will tell our child that it is illegal to buy or consume alcohol under the age of 18.
8. We will tell our child that it is illegal to buy cigarettes under the age of 18.
9. If our child visits a friend/relative they must have our permission and the school’s permission. They must also inform the school and homestay (if booked) of their travel plans and who they are going to visit.

Living in a host family/self-catering student residence (if applicable)

10. Students under 18 must stay in homestay (16+) / residence (17+) accommodation that has been checked by the school, unless suitable alternative accommodation has been made by the student’s parents/legal guardians.
11. When staying in school-facilitated accommodation our child might be accommodated with adult students in the same accommodation. In residences our child will be unsupervised.
12. Our child must agree on a curfew with the host family and this must be no later than the last regular bus, which is usually at 23:30 at the latest. Our child can go out unsupervised during this time. Our child must always tell the homestay provider where he/she is going, what time he/she will be home, and who he/she is with.
14. Our child will follow the homestay/residence rules and requirements.
15. Our child will be responsible for any damage they may cause in their homestay/residence accommodation.

Social programme

16. The school’s social programme is not compulsory, nor is it specifically designed for under18 students. Many activities and excursions are not suitable or available forstudents under 18. These include visits to the Guinness Storehouse, Jameson WhiskeyDistillery, all Overnight Weekend Trips as well as certain weekend excursions. Westrongly advise all students to return to their host family with a friend or by taxi,particularly in the evening when it is dark. 17. Atlas accepts no responsibility for loss, damage or injury caused by or during attendance on any of the organised activities or excursions. (copy)
The school organises full-day excursions on weekends. These may be co-organised with external companies. My child can go on any full-day excursions that are open to under-18 year olds and may include students aged 18 or over/adults. 
19. All students under the age of 18 are advised to have a return airport taxi transfer, unless they are travelling with a named relative or adult friend. Students must also carry the Parental Consent Form when travelling.

School rules

20. Our child must attend all classes. The school has a strict attendance policy. Students can be absent only when they are unwell. In such cases, the student, their host family or another family member must telephone/email the school as soon as possible on the day of the illness.
21. Our child needs to confirm his/her attendance daily during school days and this may be checked.
22. Atlas Language School will contact the parents/legal guardian and the police if our child is absent and cannot be contacted.
23. The school reserves the right to terminate the course and expel any student who behaves inappropriately at the school or in the homestay during his/her stay. In such cases, there will be no refund of fees and we will be responsible for our child’s return or onward journey and the associated costs. Such misconduct may include: possession/consumption of illegal drugs/alcohol, intentional damage of school or host family property, absence from classes, repeated disturbance of classes or in the host family, repeated breaking of school rules, criminal activity, etc.

In host families, our child must abide by the curfew rules. 16 year olds must be home by 10pm (Sun – Thurs) and 11pm (Fri & Sat), 17 year olds must be home by 11pm (Sun – Thurs) and 12am (Fri & Sat). Our child must always tell the homestay provider where he/she is going, what time he/she will be home, and who he/she is with. If a student does not abide by the curfew, the school reserves the right to expel the student. In such cases, there will be no refund of fees and we will be responsible for our child’s return or onward journey and the associated costs.
13. Our child will follow the homestay/self-catering apartment rules and requirements.
14. Our child will be responsible for any damage they may cause in their homestay/self-catering apartment accommodation.
15. While we encourage all under-18-year-old students to stay with host families, 17 year old students may stay in self-catering apartment accommodation unsupervised if parents give specific consent. Students staying in apartment accommodation are unsupervised.
