OET Exam Preparation

Prepare for the Occupational English Test exam with our flexible blended course to suit your work schedule. These one-to-one courses combine online study with face-to-face classroom time for candidates wanting to prepare.

Part-Time OET Exam Preparation Courses

We help prepare medical professionals for the Occupational English Test (OET) exam. This course is designed for nurses and doctors who need to pass an English language proficiency exam to register to work with the Health Service Executive (HSE) in Ireland, or the National Health Service (NHS) in Britain or Northern Ireland (UK). The exam and our course are also designed for medical professionals who want to register with one of the professional bodies in Ireland or the UK, for example, the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI).

If your goal is to take and pass the OET exam, you’ll need a good B2-C1 general level of English as well as a good understanding of the test itself. We will make sure you are fully aware of the format of each of the 4 sub-tests and the strategies you need to best answer each of the question types, as well as help you improve the accuracy and appropriacy of your English.

Features of our OET Exam Preparation Courses

Our OET courses will help you gain a very clear understanding of the format of the exam. By the end of one of our preparation courses you can expect to have a better understanding of:

  • the strategies and skills needed to complete each of the tasks in the different sub-tests
  • the assessment criteria, i.e., what the examiners are looking for, especially in the Speaking and Writing sub-tests

The other key aspect to being successful in the OET exam is your language proficiency. On our OET course you will be working to improving your general level of English, in particular:

  • the complexity and accuracy of the grammar you use
  • the range and appropriacy of the vocabulary you use, including patient-friendly language to describe medical conditions
  • the sub-skills you need to do well – e.g., looking for specific information in a text (scanning), or reading to get a general idea (skimming) in the Reading paper.

On our blended course, you will receive guided exam practice in timed and untimed mock exams to help you effectively apply the exam strategies you learn. With one of our specialist OET teachers, we will also develop a self-study plan with you, so that you can increase your learning around a busy work schedule. It’s all in the preparation. When you feel confident about taking the test, then book your test.
