Going out on a budget

Free Live Music in Pubs and Bars

Dublin is known for its vibrant live music scene where you can often catch great performances for free in many pubs and bars around the city. Whether it’s traditional Irish tunes or a local band, it’s a great way to enjoy the Christmas spirit without spending a penny. The Celt, Devitts and The Brazen Head are just some of the pubs offering live music around Dublin.

Avoid Overly Touristy Areas for Cheaper Drinks

To save on your night out, avoid the overpriced tourist spots like Temple Bar. Instead, head to the lesser-known pubs and bars in quieter parts of Dublin, where you’ll find great drinks at half the price, while still soaking up the Christmas spirit.

Festive Night In with Friends

Heading into the city is undoubtedly part of Irish Christmas culture, but sometimes the cosiest and most affordable option is a festive night in with friends or family. You can enjoy some fun games, indulge in mince pies, or watch a classic Christmas movie—without spending a fortune.

Ultimately, while Christmas can be an expensive time of year, there are still plenty of affordable activities and events in Dublin that let you enjoy the season without overspending.
