Language Awareness Task

Our multiple choice test is a quick and effective way of estimating your level of English based on the CEFR.

Language Awareness – Interactive Task

As part of the Trinity CertTESOL application, you’ll complete a few written pre-interview tasks. Some applicants find this daunting, especially if they feel unsure about grammar. But don’t worry—if you’re a native speaker, it’s normal not to know the rules of your own language. You’ve never needed them before!

Learners, however, do need some grammar knowledge to build sentences correctly. While you’re not expected to know grammar in depth before starting the course, one goal is to help you develop that understanding quickly. A good starting point is learning key terminology—like knowing that in English, adjectives (e.g. big) come before the nouns they describe (car).

During the course, you’ll study the grammar behind what you teach as part of lesson planning. The more you teach, the more confident you’ll become. To help everyone begin with a basic understanding, we send a pre-course grammar task once you’re accepted.

But for now, let’s focus on the interview task. Below are sample questions similar to what you’ll see. Try them out and see how much you already know!
