It has been over 20 years since Michael Flatley and his crew of dancers hit the screen and wowed the world with their insanely fast legs (and Flatley’s tight trousers!). Join us this Summer when we go to see the show live. But first, brush up on your Riverdance knowledge!

  • Each riverdance production is named after an Irish river; Shannon, Avoca, Boyne, Liffey and Moy have all been production names in the past
  • 1,500 dancers have worn 12,000 costumes and 14,000 shoes to date. AND almost 800,000 Litres of water, 250,000 Litres of gatorade and 28,000 kg of chocolate has been consumed (for energy!) by the cast
  • Jean Butler, pictured here, had her legs insured for IR£1 million (that’s Irish Pounds the currency we used before the Euro) due to their value to the show!

  • There have been 39 Riverdance marriages between cast members alone and over 90 Riverdance babies have been born with more on the way!
  • In 2008, the Liffey company danced on the Great Wall of China.
  • Last year over 1,693 Irish dancers gathered to break the World Record for the Longest Riverdance Line of Dancers. The dancers, who came from 44 different countries for the occassion, performed along the banks of the River Liffey.
  • The Riverdance companies have travelled 700,000 miles (or to the moon and back again) and this summer they’re back in Dublin and we’ve got tickets to the show!

And finally, watch a video. Prepare to be amazed!

We have tickets to the shows happening in the Gaiety Theatre on 12 July and 15 August and if you’d like to try out some Irish dancing yourself, we have a Céilí night coming up of 18 July – stay tuned for more details!

Check out this months calendar of events. With Summer well and truly in the air our social programme is jam packed so there’s always something to do!
