My Experience Doing an MFL Course with Atlas Language School

Starting My Spanish Learning Journey
¡Hola! I recently began learning Spanish at Atlas Language School, starting my beginner MFL course and diving into this beautiful language and culture. As someone who has always been interested in Spanish culture and its beautiful language, I had some expectations going into it, and I’m excited to share my experience with you.
Before starting the course, I was a complete beginner. My Spanish vocabulary was limited to a handful of words I’d picked up from movies and travelling. I was hoping for a course that would not only teach me the fundamentals but also immerse me in the language in a fun and engaging way. I’ve never had a very positive experience of learning a language in a classroom setting so I was a bit nervous about keeping up with the pace and the possibility of feeling overwhelmed, but I was also excited to start a new challenge.
Course Structure and Teaching Style
The classes at Atlas Language School were perfectly structured. We met for 2 hours every Tuesday, from 6:30 – 8:30 which I found to be the ideal length. It was long enough to cover a good amount of material without feeling like a marathon. The time was always well-spent, with a mix of grammar explanations, vocabulary building, and interactive speaking exercises. Our teacher was extremely supportive and encouraging which made everyone feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them.
Challenges in Learning Spanish
Of course, learning a new language isn’t without its challenges. For me, the most significant hurdle was actually trying to get into the habit of practising every week. However, once I found my rhythm with getting my homework done and using extra resources, like Duolingo, or listening to Spanish music, I began to gain a lot more confidence.
A Welcoming and Supportive Classroom Community
I really loved the sense of community within the classroom. I met people from all walks of life, all with a shared passion for learning Spanish. We encouraged each other, practiced together, and even shared a few laughs along the way.
My Progress and Achievements
My MFL course at Atlas Language School has been an incredible stepping stone. I’ve gone from knowing almost no Spanish to being able to understand the basics and I feel a real sense of accomplishment. I’m now more motivated than ever to continue my journey and can’t wait to see what new doors this language will open for me.
Final Thoughts
If you’ve ever considered learning a new language, I highly recommend checking out Atlas Language School. The experience was everything I hoped for and more, and I’m so glad I took the leap. ¡Hasta luego!
