So, let’s get serious this week, serious about pronunciation.  More specifically, about regular past tense /ed/ endings, which can be very problematic.

It’s end of term here at Atlas and more than a few students have told me they need to go to an /ədvɑ:ntsɪd/ class, the only problem being that they can’t pronounce /ədvɑ:ntst/ correctly.

So, I thought we could focus on getting the ‘ed’ endings right.

You have three options:

• /t/ e.g. walked /wɔ:kt/
• /ɪd/ e.g. wanted /wɒntɪd/
• /d/ e.g. arrived /ə’raɪvd/

After many disastrous, confusing finds on You Tube, I found this helpful video.
