Student

Hi Adele! Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from?

I live in Bassano del Grappa in Italy which is about one hour from Venice and Padova. I am still attending high school and will graduate next year. As part of my high school education, I have to complete an internship, which I am currently doing at Atlas in the Admissions Office. My task is to help the Admissions Department for 4 weeks with the Junior Summer Programme.

Which skills have ou acquired?

Apart from learning how to work with Excel, handle the printer and make colour prints, get things organised and be patient I also trained my memorization skills! As I prepared the welcome packs for the Junior Students, I probably know all their names by heart now.

What was the weirdest task you got?

Once our printer in the office ran out of ink and I was asked to go to the Cartridge Shop down the road to buy the blue ink cyan. I was told that one ink is around €4 and was given some money. However, once I was in the shop I was astounded to find out that one ink was not €4 but a whole lot of €170. Luckily they didn’t have any in stock, because I wouldn’t have been able to pay for it!

How’s the Admissions Office?

Chaotic, funny and very international! There’s literally no Irish person in the office! They are a good team, very kind and respectful! I also invaded them with my bad luck, stapled my finger 3 times in one hour and cut my finger with paper. Sometimes we have food, especially when colleagues go and visit their home countries, they bring back traditional sweets.

What’s a memorable experience?

A pleasant moment was when a colleague brought the Brazilian candy Paçoquita to the office. It was the first time I ever tried it! It’s made of peanuts, sugar and salt and is delicious! I also won’t forget the moment when a Luas tram nearly hit me (again the bad luck?) and when a seagull pooped on 2 of my friends.

What do you like about Atlas?

The environment at Atlas is extremely welcoming and family-like! Everybody is so respectful. It’s very fun working in the Admissions Office and it’s really a melting-pot!

Thanks Adele!
