It’s Christmas Time.. Eat, Drink, be Merry!

Christmas time! ‘Tis the season to be jolly and things couldn’t be jollier here at Atlas! We like to celebrate the festive period to the fullest, so this month’s post is all about what we have lined up in our December Social Programme. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!! Keep reading for more information and some photos from this week’s Christmas tree decorating

Christmas Tree Decorating

We like to kick things off in style with our annual Christmas tree decorating. It’s a great way to bring staff and students together for some festive music, treats and, of course, adorning the tree. You guys did a great job this week!

12 Pubs of Christmas

Christmas is said to have 12 days (12 days of Christmas) but in classic Irish fashion, we have combined this concept with alcohol. Every year we invite you, the students, to join in the tradition of visiting 12 pubs. The idea is that you drink one drink and play festive games/make funny rules at each stop. Of course, 12 drinks is a lot. Not even the most experienced Irish drinker can make it to the end. Come along and join in the fun on Wednesday, December 5th. There are free drinks to be won and lots of laughs promised along the way. Please note: this is a strictly over 18s event and ID will be required along the way

Atlas Student Christmas Party

Our Christmas Party is always great craic, so make sure not to miss it. It’s a chance to go out with all your classmates and maybe even some staff! We will also run a Secret Santa on the night so bring along a small generic gift (keep it cheap!) to take part. See you there on Wednesday, December 12th. Please note: this is a strictly over 18s event and ID will be required to get in

Markets, Markets and more Markets!

In recent years Dublin has seriously upped its game when it comes to Christmas markets. We’ll be going to Dun Laoghaire on Saturday where after a visit to the James Joyce Museum you will have some time to explore the coastal town as well as the Christmas market that they run there. They promise ‘carefully selected seasonal craft and food vendors’ so you’re sure to find something you like, or maybe a present for someone special

The following weekend we’re staying in Dublin city centre and hitting the Dublin Flea Christmas Market in The Point Square. It will be made up of 280 unique stalls showcasing the very best of Irish craft and design as well as artisan food and drink. If time allows you can take the rest of the afternoon to explore the other markets the city has to offer

Christmas Games Afternoon

If you haven’t joined us for the Games Afternoon then now is the time! As well as the usual fun and games we’ll have some festive treats for you to enjoy. Come along on Tuesday, December 11th and 18th at 2 pm in the Student Room

Mulled Wine and Mince Pies afternoon

Aaaand we couldn’t let you go for a two-week break without a proper goodbye. After class on Friday, December 21st make sure to stick around and enjoy some mulled wine and mince pies. We’ll also have alcohol-free mulled wine

To get a full overview of what’s in store for this month’s Social Programme, have a look at the calendar. Tell us what you think!

Finally, if you’re worried you might run out of things to do over the break, we’ll have another post coming with suggestions of all the fun (and mostly free) things you can do around Dublin. For now, take a look at one of our previous posts that outlines Free Things to Do and See in Dublin.
